144 When a high memory application is loaded, the system has video issues
**READ: My memory configuration is based on a mixed module pair since the machine shipped with 4GB after the original 8GB pair from Dell was stripped prior to my purchase of the computer. The module the system came with has never given me an issue, but the 2nd module had POST issues independently installed. I suspected unusual incompatibility issues at the time. IT CANNOT accept standard DDR3 since Haswell requires DDR3L.**
While I suspect this is a issue with the troublesome RAM module due to the POST issues I’ve previously run into (tested on a E6540 with a bad GPU; suspected it was due to a bad board since it works on others), I put the module into this machine because I wanted to bump it up to 8GB so I would at least have a descent amount of system RAM to compensate for memory taken for the video since the machine was downgraded to the bare minimum.
When I went to run Saints Row 2 on the system (low load game; runs fine on the HD 4600 version), the loading screen has issues with image stability. It was fine once I loaded my Steam saves but the system ran poorly - which I know is usually due to the settings since the standard Intel video of this era was noticeably worse then the Iris options found on the H chips. However, the start screen issues are concerning especially with my RAM configuration, even being temporary to have breathing room until things are more open so I can start looking for a matched pair.
Since I am recalibrating the battery due to degrading health to get a idea of what kind of life it has left, I will need to do the tests later but I’m going to try the ePSA extended RAM test and Memtest 86 and report back once it is done.
