Why is my iPad screen shaking and showing double images on and off?

Hello everyone,

I have had my iPad mini 4 for about 4.5 years and 1 week ago the screen started to shake and split into double images. I have not dropped it before and have not had any water damage to it before. It’s a precious item gifted by someone I love, and I do try my best to take care of it though I understand electronics can’t last forever.

I have rebooted/restarted/turn off the device and it worked temporarily until a few hours later and the shaking will come back again. The touch functions work fine, everything else works fine except for the display.

This happens 2-3 times a day and usually 1-3 hours after using. I mainly use the iPad to watch videos only, and the shaking/double images ranges between 20 mins to 2 hours, sometimes with black-lit screen in between, and after that it will be fine again. I’ve brought it to a shop to have a look at it as I suspected there was a fault with the LCD, and they mentioned that there was nothing wrong with the screen and that it is unlikely a problem with the motherboard? So they only did a ‘cleaning’ but the problem still persists. Should I insist for them to change the LCD?

I do appreciate anyone who can help me with this issue please, thank you.

They would need to test it with another LCD. I believe they would have to test it for a day to confirm. I’d rather not have it fully installed without testing first in case of it not being the problem.
