Hi,

What indications do you get when you just connect the charger to the laptop without turning the laptop on?

Does it start to charge or is there still a blinking orange light?

If it starts to charge normally allow it to charge for a while and then try to turn it on with the charger still connected as check what happens

Same light flashes 5 times with charger connected, tryed with an other charger

Hi,

Try a power refresh.

Unfortunately you laptop has to be opened for the battery to be disconnected to try this but it may resolve the problem, you can only try.

If you decide to try this when the battery has been disconnected from the motherboard (you don’t have to remove it only disconnect it) press and hold the laptop’s power button for 30 seconds and then release. Reconnect the battery and re-assemble the laptop , connect and switch on the charger and check if it now charges OK.

If it does then allow it to fully charge before attempting to turn on the laptop.

This procedure restores the BIOS settings back to their factory default values in case they have become corrupted which can cause the laptop to malfunction

Another suggestion is that since you will have the laptop open it might be worthwhile to disassemble it further and check if the CMOS battery voltage is OK. If it measures <2.6V replace it. It is a commonly available battery (CR2032 I think but it is marked on the battery). This non rechargeable coin cell battery usually has a life of ~5 years. This battery maintains the BIOS settings when the laptop has been turned off and once it gets too low the settings can sometimes become corrupted. Be sure to note the orientation of the battery before removing it to make sure that it or a replacement is reinserted the correct way. Usually it is +ve on top

Here’s a video that shows how to access the CMOS battery in the laptop which may be of some help.

Just a reminder to be very careful when working inside a laptop as there is always power available on the motherboard even when the laptop is turned off. The power button is not a power isolating button. Once the battery has been disconnected it is safe although you still need to be careful when handling etc.

The design of your laptop means that the battery has to be reconnected before the trackpad and the keyboard can be reconnected so remember that the motherboard will have voltage on it so be careful with any metal tools. Try not to use them inside the laptop when the battery is connected.

Not trying to deter you at all just trying to forestall any potential problems from occurring ;-)
