Why does my ps4 controller have such extreme stick drift?

When I play a shooting game (or any game) my controller isn’t being touched but my screen is showing straight up. It’s like I’m pushing my right analog stick forward but it’s not being touched.

This may or may not help you. My stick started drifting also and it is new. I had a think of what was different and realised I had moved my external hdd drive to a new place. I swapped it back and the drift stopped. (All my games are on external drives) Apparently there can be a conflict between the external hdd and the controller.

I fully replaced the stickbox with a brand new one but the problem still persists. What do I do now?

If you have replaced the thumb sticks then it is most likely Bluetooth interference I’ve had the same experience. Went through 4 controllers in a year not knowing the issue until I saw it on the forums

Mine has to be Bluetooth interference, 3 controllers down. What did you find in the forums??

@myxipk what you saw on the forums ??

@yates16 …your stick drift is being caused by a faulty/broken thumbstick. these are not hard to fix. here is a link to the parts and a guide on how to replace:

heya.... i am at a loss as to what else would cause this. i would try and connect it to your pc and see if it persists this way. if it doesnt, then your controller is not the culprit.

PS4 Controller Stick drift Perma FIX!!

READ

-i have worked on these controllers a lot and when this issue arises things u need to consider are.. 1. How long have u had the controller.... 2. Did u spill something on it... 3. Did u drop it... 4. Are u a hard thumb player... 5. Is the ANALOG STICK loose and lost its elasticity.

**SOLUTION**

***watch vids on YT for this disassembly part. (dismantling the 2 green boxes attached to the analog stick box)... BE very careful not to break any lock tabs ... AND make sure to remember the orientation of the white copper sensor base inside it or else the analog stick wont work..... clean inside if debris is gunk is visible.. THEN!.. do not just assemble white piece back inside that green box... u will notice the copper rings.. make sure u SPREAD them softly avoiding the other thin copper from touching the others.. THEN place it back inside the green plastic housing with the proper orientation. REASSEMBLE and TEST.

I took mine apart and I notice the lock tab on the bottom is missing, but the wires was everywhere, not sure how the wires should look, I don't see a video on

yt about the green boxes and tabs .

I also have replaced the analog module, and it stills drift.

I have shut down every bluetooth around..

I don't know what to do now..
