What is the purpose of the protrusions on the charging port?
So I didn’t get much sleep last night but I went ahead with an iPhone 8 repair. When removing the charging port I forgot to unscrew/pry off the protrusions on the charging port and all 4 of them tore off. Two of the protrusions have IC chips on them and I believe that the other two connect to ground with a screw. I’ve tested the charging port and it charges with no problem. I’m afraid that they might have long term effects while still allowing the phone to charge short term. I’m erring on the side of caution and have ordered a replacement but I was wondering if that is necessary as waiting for it would be pretty inconvenient. Any replies are appreciated.
