MX Vertical Optical Repair

Hi there, my MX Vertical isn’t moving the cursor anymore.. However, the buttons still work (e.g., left/right click, wheel, fwd/back, etc.). Does anyone know of a way to repair this?

Is the optical sensor easy to replace? Could this perhaps just come loose?

Any experience with this issue would be greatly appreciated as I haven’t seen anything pertaining to this particular mouse.

TIA

Wow, thank god for the internet. This was super easy to fix once I found my super tiny electronics screwdriver. I dropped my mouse super hard and thought it was done for. So glad that this $70 mouse was salvaged from the landfill by some quick googling and helpful photos. Thank you so much!

Solución Elegida

So I figured it out. Thanks to that video provided by @justicegoat I was reassured that this device could be opened safely without breaking it, i.e., no glue.

I opened it up and noticed that the sensor was just loose and was no longer pointing to where it should be. Unfortunately the anti-stick strips couldn't be salvaged.

It was easy to clip it back in place. I had dropped this mouse from my desk enough that it must've dislodged from its clipped home. Oops.

Great mouse, though.

I followed @l3fl3r instructions. Thanks!

Also, by being careful, I managed to remove the anti-stick strips/skate/feet and put them back after.

I don’t think you can replace the optical sensor since most mouses have it soldered on the mainboard.

No, you're correct. When I contacted Logitech, to order the anti-stick pads I ruined, they only offered to replaced my mouse. So spare parts are not going to be available. But In my case, the issue was the sensor and since it was an easy fix, I can still use it. But without the pads, it's not great for anything requiring any high dpi. It'll be a donor mouse should I run into any issues with my replacement.

Thank you for the useful information.

Also, I was able to save the anti-stick strips by using a heat-gun to revove them and then to re-attatch them. I heated up the strips so that the glue turned softer and allowed me to remove the strips easily. When I was ready to re-assemble, I heated up the strips again so that the glue became sticky again and then just put them back on the mouse.

There is no need to replace or remove the anti-stick strips! You can simply locate the screws by sliding your nails along the strip and feeling for the holes. Once you find a hole, simply use the screwdriver to pierce through. This way, the strip remains intact ;)

Thanks for the solution. I could repair my MX vertical. I can confirm that by being careful is it possible to reuse the pads (I started to peel them off with a blade and then remove it very gently).

By reassembling the optical sensor, I've put a small drop of glue on the support, I hope that it will be less prone to come detached again.
