We just changed the hot water hose from the back of the washer as it started leaking. After replacing the inlet hot water hose, there is a slow leak coming from the soap dispenser area..

I can’t see where the water is coming in, and if I turn off the hot water valve it stops.

too much pressure?

how to fix?

Can you explain what is meant by leaking? The dispenser is inside, under the glass isn’t it? So when detergent is added into the dispenser, it is held there until the time in the cycle when a valve opens and the detergent flows into the washing tub/basket. Is it possible you are overfilling the dispenser such that it is overflowing ? Not very much HE detergent should be used with these “newer” machines.

@elizabeththoni

What is the model number of the washer?

We had the same issue and it was coming out of the soap dispenser / fill valve housing. We replaced "Washer Fill Valve & Housing W11172234" and that worked. We did buy the replacement part from Ebay for $70 and I installed it myself. Lowe's extended warranty would not cover it and wanted to charge several hundred for parts and labor which is why I just did it myself.

Unfortunately, six months later the gear connecting the agitator stripped out so the agitator was not working. That gear is connected to the main motor and was a $250-300 part to replace. Lowe's would not cover that either under the extended warranty. We threw the towel on that Maytag washer and switched to a Samsung.

@janderson75,

It may be that the washer’s hot water inlet solenoid valve is not closing properly due to grit etc.

First check if the filter at the washer end of the hot water hose is intact and not broken etc.

Then run a hot water wash, hopefully to flush out any debris in the solenoid valve that may be preventing it from closing properly.

I don’t know your washer but with a lot or washers, they only do a hot water wash and not a hot water rinse, only cold water is used during the rest of the complete washing cycle. So check the user guide to see if this is the same with your machine.

If so you may have to do two or three more “wash” cycles, filling with hot water each time if the solenoid is not clearing and sealing properly after the first attempt.

If still no good the solenoid will have to be replaced as they cannot be repaired.

Search online for (insert make and full model number of washing machine) parts to find suppliers of the part

Thank you for that answer! We did just have to replace the hot water hose from the wall, so will try the hot water wash and see if it works. The solenoid makes sense. Will report if it works.

Thank You!

I am having a similar issue at the top where the hot water connection goes in. It is 100% from the inside of the washer since I have no water dripping from the hose or where the hose connection is made.

Did the solenoid replacement work?

Is there anything else to look at?
