Hi,

The BIOS settings defaulting when the laptop is off indicates that the RTC battery is flat (no pun intended - it is a coin cell battery) and it needs to be replaced.

Here’s a link to the service manual for the laptop taken from this webpage.

Scroll to p.59 to view the necessary pre-requisite steps and then the procedure to replace the RTC battery. You’ll also find the part number for the battery 922847-001 there. Although usually the battery type is printed on the battery itself and it is a commonly available type.

Your main battery may also be failing to hold its’ charge when at a low value.

After you have replaced the RTC battery check to see what happens as far as shutting down unexpectedly goes. If it still occurs you may have to replace the main battery. Part numbers and procedure on p.34 of the manual.

Since you have the laptop open to replace the RTC battery also check that the fan and air vents are not clogged with dust, preventing good airflow over the CPU
