unable to make calls

Just verifying that you have paid the phone bill. Some providers still allow incoming calls if the account goes into arrears. Not implying anything, just a thought.

Try starting the phone in safe mode and check if you can make an outgoing call OK.

If you can then a downloaded app is the cause of the problem. The trick is to find out which one.

If you still can’t call out when in safe mode, try swapping the SIM card with a compatible, known working same network SIM card and check if your SIM works in the other phone and vise versa. Basically swap the SIM cards between two same network phones and test.

As a last resort you could try a hard reset and check if that resolves the problem.

Be aware that a hard rest will erase all your data and downloaded apps. It will restore the phone to its’ default factory condition (or last system updated condition). It will be like when you first got it

Before performing a hard reset, backup the phone first, using the phone’s backup feature.

Once the backup has been completed, perform a hard reset (or factory restore) using the phone’s factory restore feature.

Once the phone has been reset, try making an outgoing call and check if it works.

If it still doesn’t work you may have a hardware problem.

If it does work (try an incoming call as well to be sure), restore the phone from the backup that you made earlier, using the phone’s restore feature.

Once the phone has been restored to what it was, try making an outgoing call to check that it is still working OK. If it is then the reset has resolved the problem
