You may have a partial short in one of the circuits from the drop that caused the screen to crack that’s why it is getting hot and not holding a charge. If you haven’t got the equipment or know how it would be best to get it looked at by a repairer. To avoid more damage I would stop using it until it has been fixed.

Screen crack to death was 9 months.
Hi Lloyd charging slowly, won’t hold a charge and is hot to touch equals a short somewhere on the logic board. Maybe on the charging circuit.
@imicrosoldering IC chip? I’m not confident in my soldering skills to attempt that fix. Need to find a local.
Yes find a local repairer. They would check VVD main and VDD boost circuit; it might only be a cap on those lines that is faulty. If not the charging circuit would be next. Most repairers have a Tristar tester which they would use to check the charging circuit.
@imicrosoldering Are there videos on how to test the VVD main/boost circuits. While I'm not yet confident to fix this I would very much like to learn. And what is/where does one get a Tristar tester? BTW, thanks for all the info you've been a great help.

@lloydgodin what made you replace all of those parts? What did your phone do before you replaced them?

Screen was cracked. It wouldn’t charge or turn at all despite having plugged in, cleaned port, holding power button and volume down. Was 100% dead
