I can purchase a working demo note 9 for cheaper than a replacement screen. Will the screen work as a replacement on my working note 9 with cracked screen without any functionality issues?

The store demo units might have a customized firmware on them, but the hardware should be identical for the purpose of demoing. I would compare the model numbers of the units to be sure, but in most cases it is too expensive to make a separate production run for unique display models when they could just take some of the already mass produced units and just program them a little differently.
