I have a LG TOP load model no. WT7100CW stuck with the error code CL. The manual says the same thing @dkups77 suggested, but there is no Control Lock button on my model. I've tried unplugging and holding start button five seconds, nothing. STILL STUCK!! Any suggestions?

I’m going to assume that you may have it by now but this should be helpful for future readers..... our LG front loader did not have a visible child lock button labeled anywhere but was stuck on the CL code. I decided to try the latch button that the door closes on and pressed that a few times and the code disappeared.

@stevetheman LG Washer Error Code CL Fix. CL means that your washing machine's CHILD LOCK is ON. Since You did not give us a model number we have to give you the generic answer:

TO TURN OFF CL CODE ON NEWER LG FRONT LOAD WASHERS:

To TURN OFF CHILD LOCK on your LG washer, press and hold the CHILD LOCK button for 3 to 5 seconds.

The washer should now have CHILD LOCK mode DISABLED and all buttons will function properly.

NOTE: ON other newer LG front load washing machines hold the PREWASH/CHILD LOCK button for 3 to 5 seconds to turn CHILD LOCK OFF.

This method is for LG washers with inverter, direct drive, smart drum, and others.

TO TURN ON CHILD LOCK ON NEWER LG FRONT LOAD WASHERS:

To TURN ON CHILD LOCK on your LG washer, press and hold the CHILD LOCK button for 3 to 5 seconds.

The washer should now have CHILD LOCK mode ACTIVATED and all buttons will not function except the POWER button.

NOTE: ON other newer LG front load washing machines hold the PREWASH/CHILD LOCK button for 3 to 5 seconds to turn CHILD LOCK ON. from here

@wendy burchardt you are absolutely right. That is also why we ask for clarification about the model numbers etc. Commonly for the LG Top Loader (and Front Loader) CL means that your washers CHILD LOCK is ON. On some models you'll find two buttons "Temp" and "Options" in the panel. To reset your CL turn the washer ON and press those two buttons together for 3 seconds. Some models have a little kids face above a lock key, in between the wash and rinse buttons, hold these for 5 seconds and it should work.

Thank you! It worked on my top loading LG!

@bbear

According to the manual for your washer on p.29 it says:

Press and hold the Extra Rinse button for 3 seconds to activate or deactivate Control Lock.

I finally realized the Child Lock, or Control Lock error code can be turned off on my top loading washer by holding the button labeled Extra Rinse for 3 seconds. The asterisk below the words Extra Rinse says Control Lock in small text.

@bbear ,

So you didn't notice my answer from 10 days ago then? Would've saved you a lot of time

The op mentioned that this is a top loader and not a front load washer. The error code stands for Control Lock and to deactivate it press the control lock button for three seconds. It is located on the far right hand side. The bottom of four selections.

Hi @ anonymous 8188 ,

How long did you press the Child Lock button for?

You need to press it for 3 seconds to both activate and to clear the Child Lock function.

Removing the power does not reset the Child Lock if it has been activated

My lg dryer is on child lock. Tried pressing cl button for 3 seconds did not deactivate it. I have no clothes in the dryer. Model number DLE7100W. HELP

- de

Yes I did. Several times

@Patricia Gonzalez ,

Don't know if this will work but try turning on the dryer first by pressing the Power button and then press and hold the Control Lock button for 3 seconds.

Apologies if you have tried this already.

You could also try disconnecting the power from the dryer for about 5 minutes and then reconnect it and then try to deactivate the Control Lock again although usually doing this doesn't override it.

Hi @Ria,

According to the user manual for your model washer (see p.28)

Unlocking the Control Panel

Press and hold the Rinse and Hot Wash buttons for three seconds.

• A chime will sound and the remaining time for the current programme will reappear on the display

Hi @Dorothy Adams-Grub

What is the model number of the washer?

Has it got a pre-wash option that you could try?

Select pre- wash option and then just when it starts to go into the next selected wash cycle e.g. normal wash, pause the machine for say 30 minutes and then resume washing. Just a thought
