I noticed that on the old mid frame chassis, there are gold square contact points for the motherboard and the new mid frame does not have them. Are they necessary for functionality?
Here is a picture of what I am referring to. They are circled in the picture. The tiny gold squares.

The midframe consists of some plastic and antenna circuitry which required as it acts as an antenna for the phone.
Without it the cellular 3g/4g + wifi/bt signal will be degraded and maybe even not work.
Edit: you also have the wireless charging Pad that is part of the midframe so without it no wireless charging support.

The wireless charging coil on the S7 edge makes contact with the motherboard on the side facing the back glass panel, not the side facing downward toward the mid frame. Alas, the reason I asked this question is because I am hoping someone can let me know of a supplier who can provide those tiny gold square contact points on the mid frame that makes contact with the motherboard antenna modules.
Does anyone know where I can get some of those?
Oh I wasn't reading the post carefully enough those contact points on the screen frame are for grounding if I'm correct.
Yes, I believe so as well, they line up perfectly with the protruding springs on the motherboard for the antenna on the side facing towards the screen/mid frame.
@benjamen50 So if they are for grounding, are those tiny gold/copper squares on the mid frame necessary for reception/3g 4g/bt+wifi?
No, the only other thing I can think of is it having an effect on touch screen sensitivity when phone is used on a flat desk / cover maybe but it'll probably feel the same.
