Samsung wa400pjhdwr/aa drain pump cover broke

Drain pump cover broke and drain clamp let loose leaving entire load of laundry water everywhere. I can easily replace.the drain pump cover; but I'm thinking that may be a symptom not the cause. How can I tell if there is something else is wrong that is the cause (like shocks if it has them) that needs to be replaced? I note there Ppear to be 4 springs on the corners of the drum that I am guessing are shocks. Several have visible play (can move up and down at least an inch). No experience to know if that is normal. Also - this is the second Samsung washer machine where I have had the clamp let loose. Why do they use only a hand pinch compression clamp?

@bperrello

the springs are supposed to have give in them. Yours sound about normal. “Why do they use only a hand pinch compression clamp?” Probably easier during assembly to use teh clamps they are using. No reson why you could not repalce it. . As in why the cover broke, it’s hard to say. That would depend on where and how it is broken. Most likely some sort of fault in the making of the plastic housing. Post some pictures of where and how it is broken to give us a better idea of what you are looking at. Use this guide Agregar imágenes a una pregunta existente for that. I think you’ll be okay with just replacing the pump.

Hi oldturkey - I added pictures. 1 before removal and 1 after. O wasn't even planning on replacing the pump. Found the drain pump cover for $34 on eBay - oddly 60+ on Amazon. I appreciate your thoughts.

@bperrello pretty flimsy when you consider that the ends are held by the stiff hoses and when the drum moves it will eventually give and break. This looks like a flimsy design but you do want to make sure that your washers drum is not running out of balance to often.

I wonder if you could not use some large hose clamps across the pump and the mount....nah $34 is not to bad. I'd go ahead and replace it.

When you say you can get the cover pretty easily online, do you have any links to where? Mine snapped off when the movers moved it a couple of years ago but it never bothered me until now! But pulling my hair out trying to find one that’ll fit my Samsung WW85H7410EW/TL

Hi Carly. That plastic drain pump cover had a part number on it for me look at yours very closely) . It was DC94-03523A. I found it at sears part direct for around $ 35. Worked out fine. By the way - several months later my pump died too. I replaced my pump with an LG part that was clearly the same but didn't have the same part number. Spent only 25 on the LG pump. Seems they source from the same place even though they don't cross link the part numbers. Good luck on your repair.

Everywhere I’ve checked says this part is no longer available and that they are not getting any more in stock. HELP PLEASE! I’m going to have to replace an entire freaking washer over a $30 part! This is ridiculous!

Tiffany. Now you know one of the many reasons i will never by a samsung appliance again. Anyways - I looked up the lg pump part that fit - hoping that can be traced back to the housing for you. The replacement pump part number is Supco LP054D. It fit and worked perfectly. Also - i think i see pump plus that housing on ebay right now. Look at this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Samsung-Washer-... do verify before purchasing.

@bperrello apparently there was a recall on this washer years ago and they NEVER notified me about it (which is why the pump cover broke). Apparently it shakes too much during the spin cycle. They will "reinforce" the washer to make it not shake too much (whatever that means) and then supposedly I can make a claim after that about the pump cover breaking, but honestly considering the part is unavailable everywhere I'm not sure how they are expecting to fix the issue now. They offered me a rebate of $16 (oh so generous) to put towards a new washer if I decided to not do the repair instead. I'm pretty fed up with Samsung over this. Who would you recommend rather than them whenever we get a new washer?

Hi tiffany. Anybody that told you there was a recall was full of $@$*. They came to my house and put a new sticker around the setings to change what each cycle meant to make sure you didnt do towels in a particular cycle. Their customer service and support is horendous. I will never again buy a samsung. Recommend you and everyone else do the same. I wont recommend anyone at this point without experiencing them or researching. I have had good luck with lg fridges, bosch dishwashers but not sure yet on washer/dryer.....

There definitely was a recall. Supposedly there is a repair they do with my unit and they are coming on Friday. We will see I suppose.....

There definitely was a recall. Mine did the same they were going to send a repair tech to fix it, but there were none anywhere in the area of my small town. The water leakage ruined the subfloor and sheetrock in the laundry room. Samsung actually did the right thing for me. They sent me the parts to fix the recall (easy to put on myself, but I do a lot of handyman work around the house) plus they reimbursed me for the repair of the floor and sheetrock. I bought it in 2012 and other than replacing the springs once, it still works fine with the repair to this day.
