The person that gave it to you should be able to unlock it, if they are the actual owners.

Yes, the galaxy owner know the Google account and password, only the account and password can bypass Google verification of Samsung phone, it's the protection of Android phone, but we should set up one gmail account for our phone in the first step.
Have the guy who gave it to me unlock it.... Brilliant! He is in Afghanistan, but once I get it unlocked, I'll call him. Thanks so much for your technical expertise.

You can bypass Google Account easily on this model, just search on youtube Samsung Galaxy S7 google account bypass.
This method works most of the time:

I use the 6.0.1 downgrade method to do google account bypass on S6 and S7.

I have a Samsung galaxy 7edge. I haven't ever used it. It was given to me and the people before I got it factory reset it and now the Google lock has prevented me from using it. somehow I got it to recognize my Google account and my password and phone number. but it still will not let me in. I get notifications on my other phone. I try logging in on it I don't know what to do. it recognizes it but it will not let me in. any suggestions?

This Sounds like a stolen cell phone ask the owner (If they are) or the person who gave it to you why they reset it like that or how they got it.

Why would you or what made you think it was stolen? For one it is not stolen and for two there are many reasons to factory reset a phone. I got this phone right after they came out and when they started doing the Google lock. My opinion is that Google lock is the worst thing Google has ever done. I just want to know how I can get into the settings and turn the frp off. It recognizes all my Google information but it still doesn't let me go past that point. Any help would be awesome. Thank you
Input the original email setup with the device. And they started that way before the s7
I also got mine at launch and never had a problem until the battery went out i have yet to fix it.

Well some people buy used phones and don't know what the email or password could be so it doesn't mean they stole the phone it happens all the time when you buy phones from pond shops or used stores doesn't mean a person is a theaf what you never had a older phone ever handed down to you or even a Tablet and the person has no clue what email was lasted used on it so what it's now just a ppper weight naw if it's not broken it can be fixed as long as there are computers still out there trust me?
