1 Liquid damage diagnostics: which part of the phone is in this pic?
Hi there,
I've sent my iPhone 7 Jet black 128 GB to Apple in order to have assistance since the phone speaker stopped working properly (the one you bring to your ear, it still works but sound appears softened).
In their diagnostics they say the phone has received liquid damage and they have provided a picture to 'prove it' (wasn't it supposed to be proved thanks to the red indicators?).
I can't figure out which part of the phone this is, I've watched several teardowns but still couldn't understand.
Can you please help me out here? Thank you

So if this is the bottom left part of the phone, how come that the only problem the phone had is related to the ear speaker, located on the complete opposite of it?

Hello zorbox. Once even a small amount of water enters the phone it can easily spread to many areas. I think in this case, the Apple technician was simply being lazy in their photography. Rather than taking an image of your earpiece, the tech saw some corrosion elsewhere and photographed it to show that the device had water damage somewhere. To Apple, once they see any evidence of water damage anywhere, they refuse to help the customer with anything!
Apple's goal is help you, until the moment they find a reason they don't HAVE TO help anymore. I would recommend looking for a local independent repair shop that IS interested in solving your problems. Otherwise, if you don't mind the risk, why not read an iFixit guide and figure out how to remove and clean the earpiece yourself? If you succeed you will have saved a lot of money. If you fail, you still have the former two options.
