I just did a battery replacement using the iFixit kit and it went smoothly. However, now even after fully draining / charging for 8+ hours it displays around 85% charge. I've also done several resets to no avail. My guess is the battery indicator might need calibration but is unable to pick up the new charge. Anyone has any ideas on what might be happening? Thanks!

Yes it will only charge up to 85%.
You can use CoconutBattery to check the health of your iPhone battery:

Or the Battery Life app on the app store on your phone.
Thanks I did it both. I actually opened a support request with ifixit, but they haven't answered it in 3 days.
After some back and forth ifixit sent a new battery, and voila! i have 100% again.
