White residue left on my dark clothes after washing. How do I get rid of it. I have tried everything that has been linked to this question. Nothing works

Sounds like someone forgot to remove the facial tissue from their pocket before throwing their cloths into the laundry. You also may have an item of clothing which is shedding.
You'll need to run the machine a few times empty and hot water only making sure the tub is full and use some bleach to help remove the soap scum which will hold some of the tissue bits.
It took me 5 cycles to get my machine cleansed of all of the bits.
Don't forget to clean the dryer too! Here you'll need use some damp towels and a sneaker to bang it around.

Thank you for your input. I wish it had of been a tissue . It's not this residue is kind of sandy to the touch and gets all over my black clothes . I'm sure it's in the other loads but u don't notice it like in the black. I've run vinegar through it I've bought the ride washing machine cleaner and run it through. Just ran a full tub hot water with bleach. Nothing works.... it reminds me of soap scum in shower doors only sandy feeling...
It's driving me nuts. I'm about to go buy a new washer...
OK, then you have grit in your water then. You'll need to put an in-line filter to screen out the small particles.
Do you have well water, or do you have city supplied water?
I've had the same problem for several years and no one seems to have a solution for me. I bought the warranty and have had the machine serviced by Sears yearly. With no answer to the problem. I have a Maytag Bravos XT washer, model # MUWB835DW0. For apprx one year I have been using 1 tablespoon or less HE detergent, as recommended by Sear/Maytag serviceman.
its the washing machine itself, turn your dark clothes inside out and try to use just a touch less detergent with darks. set on extra rinse. its ridiculous that we even have to do this after purchasing such an expensive washer.
Got my washer in 4/19. White marks started showing up in 8/19. I hate this new Maytag washer. So much water being wasted to extra rinse everything

I had the same problem with a new he top load washer. Black clothes coming out with white residue streaks, dirtier than when they went in! The stopgap solution was to do a second wash cycle with no detergent but a half cup of vinegar. Very frustrating. Was definitely not using too much detergent (still happened with a half dozen different brands of HE detergent) or overloading the machine and was using liquid detergents. Tried everything the manuals and company websites said, called the manufacturer, used a dozen of those affresh cleaning tablets they recommended, multiple empty loads with vinegar, multilpe empty loads with baking soda, had a maintenance technician come and they were all of no help. Even disassembled and cleaned the %#*@ thing myself based upon a bunch of youtube videos. Months and months of frustration and unsuccessful approaches.
In the end, what eliminated the problem was using the normal wash with extra rinse option activated. Now the blacks come out clean with no residues.
It seems like these HE machines are too efficient by not supplying enough rinse water. Extra rinse made the problem go away. Definitely making me pause before buying a HE model next time.
