Is there any possible upgrades for this computer?

Ok I'm looking to see if there is any possible upgrades I can do to this computer and if so how far?

I'd love to push this computer so I can safely reinstall windows7 and use it for gaming and use bluetooth controller/keyboard on it. So the planned upgrades I'd love to do is the CPU and HDD. I think it's default ram config(which looks like 4gb) is going to be the max I can do unless something else allows it to support more. Especially since I can't afford to do much more in this case. So it's either this or an HP laptop which I doubt I can upgrade to a substantial point versus this. So that one may just end up as a old PC game laptop that's constant connected. So this one if possible will go to SSD and later dual drive it(maybe use what's already in there until I can afford something else?)

Thanks in advance for any help

Hi @darsparx

Here is a link to the user guide for an Inspiron 530.

Scroll to p.179 for the specifications of the PC.

If you already have this information, apologies.

If you could provide more information about what components are in the machine such as what type of RAM and speed is your RAM and what is your CPU. I would add an SSD for sure on the PC. That will speed up the PCCrucial MX300 750 GB SSD is an easy upgrade.

That's what I was trying to find, spec sheets for this thing weren't easy to find if I ever found them before. It seems sites are quick to delete them for these things. It's exactly a inspiron 530:

I'm going to have to double check at home, but this should be correct. I'm going to have to see if I can get another license for it, since it was originally my grandmother's computer that I took in when she upgraded to a newer model. So it originally had vista on it, she put 7 on it and lost the password after she gave it to me and I wiped it hoping she still had the 7 license somewhere just so she'd feel easier about me using it then.

Aside from a SSD, you may be able to fit a small GPU in the system. Something along the lines of a GT 730. It won't be a great gaming machine, but it will work to get you playing.

Yeah I know that but seeing as I can't afford a brand new computer it'll have to do. Spec sheets are so hard to find for some of these old computers. (especially some older xp laptops I have too)

I had added an EVGA GForce GT610 to mine. Just make sure that your power supply is at least 300 Watts. I finally retired it this past weekend. I had also upgraded it with a 2TB hybrid drive, and I had placed 4GB of RAM in it. A 32 bit OS is not able to see more than about 3.5 GB of RAM so it's recommended for you to install a 64 bit OS.
