Apple Time Capsule Model A1254
I have a 1st gen Time Capsule with a 500GB hard drive and I constantly receive notifications stating that the memory is full. Can I replace the memory unit with a larger version? If so how would I backup my current drive? Would it be cheaper to just buy a used Time Capsule and swap the drives?

I think it should take any desktop sata drive, and you should be able to clone the old drive onto new one and extend partitions if it still works. For how to tear it down, there is no official ifixit teardown, but probably other disassembly vids.
