New harddrive installed but need to install new osx with no cds
I'm having a new solid state drive installed in my iMac (late 2010 model). They want to charge $70 to install the OS and I know I should be able to do that myself. I purchased the machine from someone and wasn't given any cds for the OS or anything. Is it possible to install the OS on my iMac without them and, if so, how?

Did they mention how they are taking care of the run away fan issue?
You will also need disk utilities to format the drive. Is your old drive still working?

The guy from Microcenter recommended a drive that wasn't solid state (it needed an additional, more expensive, cable to fuction properly and he recommended the next best drive where the fan shouldn't be an issue.

Can I get the disk utilities online? The old drive was still working, just really slow.

What drive did he recommend?

I changed your icon to what may be your machine. You didn't list a size.
