Instructions for replacing home button are incomplete

The instructions for replacing a home button include a step where I have to remove the SIM card. My verizon phone doesn't use a sim card. The functionality is implemented in a different way.

Does someone have instructions or experience for THIS type of phone?

If not, can I proceed past this point?

Are you sure this phone isn't a 4S?

Fairly sure. Here is the A number

A1349

I am using the instruction video on the ifixit website

iPhone 4 Home Button Replacement

I also noticed a few other differences that I think I worked out.

There was a metal clip near the battery connection of the video that just popped out.

In my phone, Ihad to unscrew a different screw and the piece as shaped differently.

Fortunately, I was taking pictures as I went, and was able to get the piece back in.

When I hit the SIM problem, I stopped reversed my steps and put the phone back together. It still worked so I am ready to try again when I am sure about the SIM step.

Thanks

Sam

@skoski not quite sure which instructions you are using and/or what phone you have. Yes you can safely proceed past this point if you do not have a SIM. Let us know what exact phone you have....on an iPhone the AXXXX number will help us.

Update (10/01/2016)

@skoski the guide you are using is for the GSM Model A1332 for your CDMA A1349 use this guide. that explains why you had different screws and why it looked different:-)
