MacBook a1181 RAM issue

I've tested both RAM slots separately with 2 different RAM chips. When either one of them is installed in the left or right RAM slot, the laptop turns on and boots (so both are good pieces of ram, and it also seems both ram slots are good??). If I put one of these known good RAM chips in each slot though, the laptop does not turn on (only the fans do). This is the first time we've encountered this issue. Anyone know what it could be?

What's the speed of the RAM and are they both the same? How large are they?

There are seventeen A1181 machines, which one do you have?

The A1181 series goes from a maximum of 2GB to 6GB according to your model.

Since I don't feel like looking through all 17 machines to find a 3,1. I'll stop here till you can made a better effort at identifying your machine. You can enter your serial number here to find out exactly what it is: http://www.everymac.com/ultimate-mac-loo...
