No service on phone but ICCID shows in About

I've got an iPhone 6 where it constantly looks for service.

I've tried 3 different sims.

The SIM card shows in the ICCID field under Settings > About.

I've swapped the logic board into a new phone case\shell where that housing\cellular previously worked, however, I still get no service.

Is cellular service linked the the logic board somehow?

Is your phone locked to a specific carrier?

- de

I don't believe so, is there a way I can check? Searching via google only brings up those scams to pay for unlocking service.

- de

Well I use sim-unlock.net to check these stuff. Costs like $5 to check via imei number so I don't recommend doing though.

- de

Is there really no other way?

Boggles my mind to be honest. The old school symbian OS nokia phones were a dream to work with compared to these. :\

- de

You have checked that the date and time is correct on the phone right?

Of course the cellular service is linked to the logic board, why else would you put a logic board in a phone?

It is likely to be dead power supply to the transceiver chip, or dead transceiver chip.

I've noticed that the cellular antenna is in the charger port piece.

This makes me curious if it's something else, somewhere else.

- de

Are you able to go into a little more detail re~ transceiver chip?

- de

There are 2 cellular antennas, it is not possible for them to fail at the same time.

So it must be a chip problem.

- de

Hey Tom Chai, are you able to locate these for me? on a schematic or diagram?

- de

Basically every chip on the lower half of the board, it's way too complex for ppl without the experience or tools.

Check IMEI via *#06# and if no IMEI is displayed then you have a issue relating to baseband chip.

In "about" do you have an IMEI number?

Yes I do have an IMEI in Settings > About.

It does does all detect the sim as it shows the ICCID

I've come across the same issue, this is usually due to the housing you've used. I found personally that using an aftermarket Housing is the wrong move, use only an original / OEM Apple housing if you can and you shouldn't have the issue.

- de

I've used a legit apple housing?

I'll try testing with a different iPhone 6 housing (OEM apple) and test to see what happens.

From what I've been told / seen, and what the research suggests, there are no Original New Housings available for purchase / use, only second hand and maybe A-Grade aftermarket? That's just what I've found in my experience

- de

Ahhh Sorry, I meant I've used housings from broken screen phones where the logic board has been removed but everything is in tact (sometimes screens are missing too)
