No battery meter when the phone is charging w/ power off

I replaced the original iPhone 4s battery with the new battery bought from iFixit. I shut off the power of the phone and started to charge it. But there is no battery meter showing up on the screen as the phone normally does. Why is that? How to solve this problem?

You may have not connected the battery correctly. Try opening the device back up and reseating the battery connector. Also, make sure that the 30-pin charging cable is making proper contact and that there's no corrosion on the connector by plugging and unplugging it 5 or 6 times, then blowing it out.

I'm sure the connector is plugged in the right place. Also after the battery replacement , the charging time is about 1 hour, the usage time is about 3 hours, and the standby time is about 10 hours
