Screen works perfect, but no backlight?

hi everyone I had a light spill on my macbook pro and it barely touched the logic board. It works flawless on external, but only problem is that the backlight is gone? i can see screen working with a light behind display. How do i fix this? Is the backlight controlled by the LVDS cable or what? the screen looks perfect just no backlight.... please help me

It might be the inverter. LCD inverters take the incoming DC power and invert it to higher-voltage AC power to the tubes to light the screen. Macbook is LED so no tubes I guess but it still has an inverter. My inverter went bad and had the same symptoms. I might be completely wrong, but thought it might be worth passing along the information. weather or not it's possible to damage this part from what happened to your machine, I don't know. I do know apple usually just goes ahead and replaces the entire screen when done under warranty for this problem.(which means it's probably pretty deep inside the display assembly I guess).

Sounds to me like you have a WLED driver that is bad. It is a chip soldered directly to the logic board. Also a alternative is a fuse that is located near the same component. Both these require soldering tools and a steady hand. There are many write ups on here referring to your problem.
