Moved switch from center trackball to left place. Working great - need replacement to restore mouse to full restoration.

Hi,

Here is a link which shows how to dis-assemble your mouse. At about 50 seconds into the video you have access to the button switches. At this point you should be able to to determine if the actual button is mechanically functioning and if the actuating lever of the upper cover is OK. if everything looks alright you may have to remove the board from its' housing so that you can check the solder connections of the button on the underside. If you have an Ohmmeter you can check the continuity of the button contacts as well.

Hopefully this is of some help.

Update the drivers for the mouse from the manufacturer’s website and check.

It might be that you have switched the primary and secondary buttons in mouse settings. If that is the case then your left button will function as the Right button and vice versa. To disable it follow the steps mentioned below.

1. Click Start button and select “Control Panel”.

2. Locate Mouse and open the mouse properties.

3. Uncheck box “Switch primary and secondary button”.

4. Click on Apply and then ok.

Change mouse settings with help of Microsoft Wireless Mouse 5000 Manual.

I think that my right click button, being the one that is used most, is probably mechanically broken. As a stop gap measure, in Control Panel > Mouse, I can set the two small side buttons (usually for zooming and returning one page in a browser) to function as (right) click buttons.

Unfortunately I don't seem to be able to set a click of the wheel to function in the same way.
