Easy fix for lcd?

Im replacing a smashed screen, everything went ok, tested the lcd and worked after screen off. Then i removed lcd and digitiser and replaced with new digitiser and it booted up to apple logo then went blank. I then reseated battery and lcd connections and backlight not working now and tried soft reset but to no joy.

By not removing the battery first have i blown the backlight? I dont have a clue about soldering so really want to avoid this route. Any other options?
