Airbag warning light goes on and off on Peugeot 306 Break?

Form time to time the warning light of the airbag switch on for few 100km and later off again from it self.

Can it be, that there is somewhere a connection which is not well?

Maybe from the side airbag in the seat?

How can I fix it?

Daniel, Have the vehicle scanned to see where the SRS/air bag fault is in the circuit, much easier to diagnose and find the fault. If you google search (Peugeot 306 SRS airbag light on intermittent) you will see a wealth of info. on the problem you are experiencing. Good luck.

Cable conectors under front seats. Clean it, and look at Airbag Computer.

Is under Gearshift lever, ashtray.

The light is indeed related to a sensor wich is connected under the driver's seat.

7 peugeot garages (for a total of 10 tries) havent resolved the problem on mine, classic default on the 306.(they replaced the cable a few times, the connector) after the last time they told me it would be ok, the light turned on before the garage gate, i stormed the place, got my money back.

Don't bother.

Check your car battery... If the voltage drops to much during an engine start, this can cause a failure on the airbag computer.

At my 306 cleaning the connector contacts under the seats helped only for weeks or months. Since I replaced the connector and soldered the cables directly together the warning lamp is satisfied.

A handy tool if you own a Renault/Peugeot/Citroen is either a dremel tool or similar type its perfect for cleaning up electrical connectors and the like ,I got one from the tool station for £20 !

There are two colored connectors under each of front seats (red and orange). The connectors are pinned to the lower side of the seat. You have to unplug, clean them and little bit bend the (two) pins inside of each connector. The connectors are unfortunately very bad accesseble. Best way how to reach them is remove the seat and turn it upside down.

Peugeot/Renault/Citroen are all part of the same group they all share common parts and systems a common problem with these cars is the bulkhead water drains that block up causing water to run over fuse/relay units and any cables in the floor area ,depending on your skill sets ,you need to take off the scuttle panels to access the water drains clean them out and then cut off the flaps they put on them because its them that cause the trouble in the first place .

Go under the seats and check the cables and the connections ,check the fuse/relay boxes to see it if they have /had corrosion caused by condensation /water if there is corrosion you will have to clean up every terminal /connection when you have done that buy a can of silicone spray from tool station and spray every connector /relay in sight ,also do a continuity check on all and any earth leads these cars are prone to earth problems causing computer probpems!

I had this problem on an 04 307.

The solution was to change the ECU behind the steering wheel having tried the the connection cleaning route without success.

The unit cost around £160. Peugeot wanted another £90 to fit it but it was a simple matter to remove the steering wheel and upper cowl and swap it

Moving the seat back and forward several times seems to have cured the fault. (enough to get it through the MOT).
