My girlfriend keeps complaining that her hairdryer only blows cold air and that she really needs the heat in order to set her curls. I don't even know what that means, but can someone please tell me how to get the hot air setting to work again? I'm pretty good at fixing things, I just need to know what to do.

The first thing you should look at is the heat setting. There are two black switches on the dryer, one of which controls the heat of the air. Verify that the button is switched to the hottest setting and is not stuck on the cool setting.
If the setting is on "Hot" and produces cold air, the hot/cold switch may need to be replaced. Refer to the Hot/Cold Button Replacement Guide.

if it's not the switch check the resistance of the elements wiring if u have or know how to use a multimetre. 0 resistance between the two thin wires means its ok. 1, infinite resistance, means the wire has burnt out and element needs replacing. its then cheaper to buy a new hairdrier as not all things are cost effective enough to save..

This has happened to me on two different models. If there is a "cold blast" feature, it may be stuck. Unplug hair dryer and check around the cold blast button for a small screw.
With a small screwdriver, loosen the screw only about a 1/4-1/2 turn. This should be enough to loosen up the cold blast button.
When I turned my hair dryer on, I had heat once again.
