Would anyone know how to fix this?

I have a Creative I-Trigue L3800 speaker system. When I move the cable I get a crackling sound and sometimes the volume just gets very loud. The volume cable has many little colored wires in it and it seems one of them is broken. Not sure which one. I opened it up and all the wires are in a plastic connector which goes into to circuit board.

Would be nice if I can fix or replace this cable. The company doesn't support this product anymore.

Would anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks.

Peter, you said "When I move the cable I get a crackling sound", any specific point where you move it? It would help a lot if you could post some images with your questions then we could see what you see and may be give you some pointers about the repair.

Did you check out their support site? I found a link for trouble shooting humming sounds Keywords / Key Phrases: Creative Speakers, Essential Troubleshooting, no sound, humming sound and a page about cables with illustrations. Seems that many cables are industry standard, or could be repaired or fashioned from that information.

If this answer is acceptable please remember to return and mark it.

Yes, I checked out their support site and it said they don't support my product anymore. The cable that I need is a thick one with many tiny little wires inside it. I tried to repair it myself, but decided against it because the wires are so tiny and delicate I didn't want to screw it up permanently. The cable is not a proprietary one that you can buy in an electronics store, at least I don't think so. I guess I'll just wait until the noise gets really bad and I nothing to lose by trying to fix it. This sucks when you have a product that you like and parts aren't available anymore and it still works fine except for one thing.

Thanks for you reply.

Yes the old connector must be reused, or, something workable fashioned. A small electronics repair shop, or computer repair shop should have the tools to strip the wires, make the connector, or, solder the wires directly to the logic board at the loose end of the cable (be it to the amp or the speaker). DIY doesn't mean you can't get help or hire experienced professionals

How many conductors are in the cable? ethernet cable has 8 pairs and could possibly be used to replace the existing cable. You can get large amounts of this for a pretty good price. be sure to "ring out"(put a meter on the ends of each wire to be sure there is continuity) each conductor prior to connection.

It doesn't look like the ethernet cables will work. The connectors are different.
