Will a 2011 A1286 display assembly fit my mid 2010 mac A1286?

My mac display assembly is damage. I need to purchase the assembly to fit with my macbook. I am a little confused with the years and model number. I found an assembly 2011 make but with the same model number that is A1286. Will this do for my mac mid 2010?

Suwfieya , lets start off with identifying your computer properly. what are the last three digits of your serial number?

- de

Last 3 digits/numbers are 138. Last letters are AGZ.

- de

Does this look like the specs for your computer:" 2.66 GHz Core i7 (I7-620M)

Intro Date: April 13, 2010 Disc Date: February 24, 2011

Order No: MC373LL/A Model No: A1286 (EMC 2353*)

Subfamily: Mid-2010 15" Model ID: MacBookPro6,2

Std RAM: 4 GB Std VRAM: 512 MB*

Std Storage: 500 GB (5400 RPM) Std Optical: 8X DL "SuperDrive" ?

If so my answer stays incorrected:-)

- de

Yes this is it. I've added another 4gig ram to it. So does this mean that the 2011 display assembly will fit with my mac? Thank you for your help.

- de

If it is the Glossy display, then it does look like it fits. Check the list in my answer. Hope this helps.

Suwfieya, Without knowing exactly which display you have, I selected the "glossy" from the Mid 2010 MBP 661-5483 Glossy, Display assembly, Here is the compatibility of that:"

MacBook Pro 15.4" 3.06GHz Core 2 Duo (A1286) - Mid 2009

from here. According to this the 2011 will be a fit.

Additionally:

I added some more part numbers, since there are 2 more displays that are available for this model.

661-5477, Hi-Res Glossy Display assembly:

MacBook Pro 15.4" 2.4GHz Core i5 (A1286) - Mid 2010

MacBook Pro 15.4" 2.53GHz Core i5 (A1286) - Mid 2010

661-5478, Hi-Res Anti-Glare Display assembly

MacBook Pro 15.4" 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo (A1286) - Late 2008

MacBook Pro 15.4" 2.4GHz Core i5 (A1286) - Mid 2010

MacBook Pro 15.4" 2.53GHz Core 2 Duo (A1286) - Mid 2009

MacBook Pro 15.4" 2.53GHz Core i5 (A1286) - Mid 2010

MacBook Pro 15.4" 2.66GHz Core 2 Duo (A1286) - Early 2009

MacBook Pro 15.4" 2.66GHz Core 2 Duo (A1286) - Mid 2009

MacBook Pro 15.4" 2.66GHz Core i7 (A1286) - Mid 2010

MacBook Pro 15.4" 2.8GHz Core 2 Duo (A1286) - Late 2008

MacBook Pro 15.4" 2.8GHz Core 2 Duo (A1286) - Mid 2009

MacBook Pro 15.4" 2.8GHz Core i7 (A1286) - Mid 2010

MacBook Pro 15.4" 2.93GHz Core 2 Duo (A1286) - Early 2009

MacBook Pro 15.4" 3.06GHz Core 2 Duo (A1286) - Mid 2009

So , if it is the glossy display it will fit. If you are still unsure, take a look at your panel once you have it removed and compare the model numbers. Also, it will help if you ask the person the has the 2011 display assembly, which assembly that is and may be he/she will provide you with that number.

Hope this helps, good luck.

Jack - You need to clarify you answers between the raw LCD display Vs the full display assembly.

- de

He did ask for the display assembly. If he wanted the LCD itself, he would ask for it.

- de

Yes I did ask for display assembly. Thanks.

So please remove my down votes.

Just tried to take a Late 2011 15" MacBook Pro display assembly and put it on a Mid 2010 i5 15" Macbook Pro system.

The result? They fit but the 2011 has an extra WiFi antenna, the 2011 assembly has 4, the 2010 assembly only has 3.

So you end up with a wasted antenna.

I have the same problem - 4 leads from 2011 panel and three from 2010. The 2011 screen works but what is the extra wi-fi lead for?
