How to fix the keyboard (spoiled by baby milk)?

The computer is not starting anylonger, the keyboard was ruined by our toddler with baby milk. We cannot not even access to the boot session.

Can you help me?

Cheers!

What did it do when you turned it on last? You do not, actually should not, turn it on until further diagnostics:)

Once I had water spill on my keyboard and it started acting weirdly. I was scared to imagine I have to buy a new one. However, I got lucky and when the water dried up the keys came back to normal behavior. Use a hair dryer to evaporate the milk drops. Make it dry.

Too late for the hait dryer unhopefully! But thanks I'll try this next time (hoping there won't be one...)

Usually a liquid damaged keyboard is pretty hard to fix or it involves full strip down. The best and recommended way is to order a new replacement keyboard online and replace it by yourself using the service manual or some online tutorials.

Barbara, the first thing I suggest is that you do not try to start your laptop. Remove the battery and the AC power. disassemble your laptop. the instructions for that can be found on here. Once it is disassembled, clean each and every part, connector and cable with a small brush and a high grade (90%+) isopropyl alcohol. This will remove any water, sugars and starches. It is okay to soak your motherboard in it as well. Use a very well ventilated area and keep away from any excessive heat, sparks etc. Once you have it properly cleaned, reassemble and re-evaluate for any damage. Not cleaning the components will lead to further corrosion and failure. Hope this helps, good luck.

We'll try what you suggest, many thanks fir the dissassemble instructions and the precious advice. We'll keep you update if it has worked or if the computer is completely lost

I think it should still be okay. A good cleaning can really work wonders :-)

Old turkey's post seems to be the best course of action. One thing I wold try doing would be to unplug the computer, and remove the battery. At this point, hold down the power button for at least 30 seconds to restart the onboard battery(which keeps time and date when the computer is off) and reconnect everything to see if that does anything. Good luck!
