According to Mactracker (if I have the right model for you) the maximum memory for your unit is 1.25 Ghz. That would be the built in 254M plus the 1G in the socket. It would help if you could confirm exactly which model you have. Check under the battery or use about this Mac to confirm. Ralph

According to Mactracker and my personal experience you have the maximum memory your computer will recognize. Ralph

you can add 2gb ram if you find a 200pin single 2gb stick that is ddr1 sodimmm pc2700 or above. you cannot add the easier to find 184pin versions and you cant add pc2100 ram sticks. you can also not add the more common ddr2 2gb sticks.

i will do it myself in the near future cause i heard of few people who did it and it worked.

if you find a pc3200 ddr1 sodimm 2gb stick 200pin version, that wil work too cause it automatically downscales to pc2700 speed

good luck in finding a suited 2gb stick, i am on the search also:)

Please let us know if it works. I won't recommend a procedure that hasn't been proved because it cost the questioner money.

Hallo!

I will get a 2gb ram sodimm 200pin pc3200. I hope it arrives in the next weeks. I will try it as soon as i have it in my 12" g4 1,5ghz powerbook and will let you know if it worked or not.

It is a risk for me, cause if it doesnt work i lost some money.

I called apple and went into shops and no one can really tell me if it will work or not.

The problem is it is a ECC ram. ECC ram is only officially supported in G5 ppc macs. The onboard ram in a g4 powerbook is non ECC.

When researching the net i read different opinions, it may work, or it may not work. Some mainboards, though officially not supporting ecc just bring it to work in not using the ecc. Others dont work at all with it, and again others can be made to work with ecc by disabling ecc in the bios.

I dont know how to get into a g4 powerbooks bios. Apple doesnt even have a bios i think. Theres sth like a bios but i dont remember how its called or how you work in it.

I am thankful for any more information regarding that matter!
