Popped Off Key Caps - how do I re-install them?

Splashed a bit of beer around the right-hand side of my MBP keyboard but wiped it off immediately. Am certain some of the liquid seeped between the key caps, but it was working fine until about a 2 hours later, when it would automatically capitalize all letters.

I then shut it down, then rebooted it.

Bad Move: It now comes up on safe boot, and asks for my password - which has a mix of lower case, caps and numbers. So I can't get in.

Anyway, I went through the articles here on Ifixit on another computer and found what I should have done.

Anyway, one of the suggestions was to pop off the key caps - which I did - and dry them out. Now, I can't seem to return them!

Any pointers?

TIA

Thanks so much! The link helped me click them back to position - except for one more key.

Sadly, my MBP now types everything in uppercase. Thinking of doing a full take down and go in with some contact cleaner.

Thanks again!

Be careful what you use so as not to etch the circuit board. REALLY DRY IT OUT with a 99% denatured alcohol pass and a desiccant before reassembling.

Thanks again! Will order the tools - can't get the battery out of the way. Have to contend with having an ALL CAPS mac meantime (no numbers for me).

On a different note, newby question: how do I mark the answer as 'accepted'?

Hey I used this site a while ago when I had the same problem: http://www.laptop-keys.com. I ended up trashing the plastic clip and had to get a new one but I remember it only being $3-something. You may need to do that.

Thanks, Barry. I ended up ordering the OEM keyboard from Ebay (less than $30) -- and had the local apple accredited service shop do the diagnosis and installation for $56.00. They did it in 4 days!

I could have spent less if I did not ask them to diagnose - but had to be sure nothing else was corroded since it was more than a month before I got the keyboard.

So far, no issues. Much cheaper than buying the upper keyboard assembly.

Cheers!
