Background
The GameSir X4 Aileron is a mobile gaming controller designed for Android devices. The GameSir X4 Aileron (model number: GameSir-X4a) was released on May 15, 2024 and features a split design that allows each half of the controller to attach magnetically to either side of a smartphone, creating a handheld console experience. The device connects using low-latency Bluetooth and is compatible with mobile games, cloud gaming, and emulation. It also supports customization through the GameSir app, allowing users to remap buttons, adjust trigger modes, and switch between Xbox and Nintendo-style layouts.
The controller weighs 190 grams and has a black plastic exterior with textured grips for improved comfort. It features Hall effect joysticks designed to minimize stick drift, along with mechanical microswitch buttons that provide fast, tactile input. Each controller half contains a 400mAh battery and supports pass-through charging while in use. There have been no official recalls for this device, though users have reported issues such as trigger failures, random disconnections, and occasional input lag. Priced at around $99.99, the GameSir X4 Aileron competes with other mobile controllers like the Backbone One and Razer Kishi, offering a portable and customizable gaming solution.
Identification
Distinguishing the controller from other Gamesir controllers is fairly easy as it is the only controller for phones that condenses together when not in use. It comes as one controller, which, when pulled apart, separates into two. The controller is primarily sold in a matte black color. The material is a hard plastic exterior with rubber thumb sticks. To check model information, there are a couple spots to check. With good lighting, look for printed text on the back side of one of the controllers. If not present, look on the backside of the area that stretches behind your phone when you attach the controller. If still not present, it may be near the charging port. The text should contain the controllers model name, input ratings, and certification logos.
