My daughter uses her mid-2011 13" MacBook Pro for photo editing and is continually running out of space with the standard 250G hard drive. I found a 500G hybrid drive on FixIt.com and decided to give it a go...

Probably didn't need the detailed instruction guide but it sure made me more confident in performing the swap. Most difficult part was actually the preparation - using CCC to clone the original drive.
I first installed the new drive in a temp SATA fixture, cloned the original then swapped drives in the laptop. Cloning process took about 4 hours then the actual swap was less than 10 minutes.
Mi Consejo
During the cloning process I noticed that there were many "temp" type files being transferred. Reconned doing some house cleaning before cloning a drive.
