My 5 year old 60GB harddrive gave up. Praise God I stumbled across this site and so I figured I would save about a grand on a new MacBook and just fix it like I do my cars. What a great feeling to save money.

Repair/upgrade was almost enjoyable. Very straightforward process. Totally not worth any anxiety if this is your first repair of the sort.

Mi Consejo

When installing the metal (L) bracket, there are two metallic cushions attached behind the bracket (they fill in the gap between the bracket and RAM cards) that got in the way when putting the bracket back. Just use the spudger to push them in place and it goes in like butter.
