Mi Problema
So my old macbook fan started sounding like someone throwing a running weedwhacker over a chainlink fence into a pile of empty beer cans, which was a good hint that something had gone horribly wrong. So i did a dry run on the replacement guide,to see if i could clean/fix the fan. The dis assembly/cleaning/reassembly went smoothly, but the fan still sounded like a air traffic accident in progress. Ordered a new fan, and turned off the machine.
Mi SoluciĆ³n
The fan arrived. Once more into the breach, so many tiny screws, so poor of tools. (a #00 screwdriver sent to me with a replacement phone screen). However, i endured, and only suffered one panic moment while disconnecting the ribbon cable to the keyboard/track pad. I momentarily nearly ripped the connector loose from the cable, but realized in time and pressed it back together. (use great care on that step!)
I promptly used my sharpie to mark the original fan 'Old Fan' so i didn't mistakenly re-install it. The Felt tape tore of course. Why? because Tape, that's why. Replaced it with a small slice of electrical tape, after realizing that it may be non-conductive for a reason. reassembly was stressful, as my not so trusty #00 screwdriver was beginning to wear down. However, with a few muttered curses on the final screws, success was mine.
Mi Consejo
Order a decent set of screwdrivers before you take your computer apart. it will be worth the 10 or 15$.
