iPhone constantly searching for signal and end up with No Signal

I have opened my iPhone 3GS to replace battery. I am not sure what was the damage I have done to my phone. After reassembly, it's searching for signal and finally says no signal. I gave the phone to local repair shop, they have tried changing the doc connector from a working phone but still no luck. I have made the small copper tooth near connector 7 touching the silver frame. Still no luck. I suspect connector 7 on the mother board is damaged. I have attached my mother board pics here. http://www.flickr.com/photos/79479917@N0...

Has anyone faced this issue and replacing connector 7 male connector in the board will solve the issue?

looks more like the screw hole is damaged? might be the corner of the motherboard has been flexed and cracked the internal wiring from no7 to antenna reception or there is not good contact with the little gold pin on the top of the dock connector. this a 3G but the idea is similar.. http://www.mauron.net/iphonerepair/

I'd try Gido's advice about testing the blue coil first though.

Your connector looks somewhat damaged indeed. If it does not fit well it could cause a bad connection which can result in the problem you are facing.

I have replaced several of these connectors on the motherboard successfully to repair this kind of problem.

You may also want to check if the blue coil near the connector is still OK. These also tend to break. You can measure this with a multimeter. Should be between 0-10 ohms or so.

Many thanks for helping. I will arrange a multimeter to check the blue coil. Meanwhile, can you please tell me how much it would cost to replace connector 7 in the board?

Connector is quite cheap, a few dollars or so, if you are able to replace it yourself.

Normal price for a repair by a technician is somewhere around 50 euros or so (at least that is what I normally charge for this kind of repair).
