Dual screen case exterior dot-matrix LCD broke--possible to replace?

Dropped my phone, everything is fine except for the exterior small LCD that shows the time and notifications. Wondering if it's possible to replace? I have replaced the front glass on these dual screen cases before when they've cracked, so I know how to get in there if I need to. Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with individual components within the dual screen case behind the second screen. Wondering if it's soldered in place or anything like that. I do have a couple of extra old cases that are broken in the hinge, otherwise they work fine. So I have the parts on hand and the tools just wondering if anyone has any advice.
