After replacing battery, touch screen acting up

I was having battery problems so I ordered a new one and replaced it successfully using the guide on this site, however - my touch screen is being very screwy. It will not scroll up or down easily, and some commands won't work, for instance, I can't send any messages. I touch the part on a text to start typing a message but it doesn't come up. I also can't change pages on Safari using the button on the bottom right side, either. Just a few among the many new frustrations I have right now, does anyone have an idea what I could have done and/or what I could do to fix it?

It sounds like the connector for the digitiser is either not quite making contact properly, I would just try removing it, giving both sides a quick clean with isopropyl alcohol and reseating it again, hope you get it sorted.

under any other circumstance I would suggest to replace the digitizer. Usually if just certain areas of the touch screen do not work, it is the digitizer that has failed. In your case, since you disassembled it first, and it was working, I do agree with Xile. So, check your connections and clean those first. If you have no change of your symptoms after that, you may still have to replace it.

Hey,

I'm (nearly) in the same case: I spilt some beer over my phone a few weeks ago. Not much, but I think some of it reached the bottom of the phone, where the usb/charger connects, as my phone was displaying messages such as "Accessory not recognized" (when I wasn't trying to connect anything).

Anyhow I finally managed to take it apart a few days later (I used it meanwhile a little which I shouldn't have), and with a bit of whool cleaned it up and put it back together. The accessory message never appeared again but new problems appeared:

-My touch screen started (and still is) messing up big time

- And the vibrating button, the volume buttons, the lock button and the jack are not working at all.

So here I am facing problems that appeared only after I took the thing apart! so I'm basically wondering if you guys think that I should try taking it apart again (but first I have to wait for the battery to run out -_-) to see if anything is misconnected or if its a part of the phone that I have to replace?! And if so, which part would you think I'd be?

thanks in advance!

[edit] After the battery ran out (the lock/switch off button wasn't working anymore) I disassembled and reassembled and everything now works just fine! So if that can be of any help then good! *woohoo*
