Can I swap working motherboard from old phone to another used phone?

Hello,

I have a Samsung s6 G920F (bought from Australia) that I opened up carelessly and damaged the lcd and optimizer screen. I found another model exactly the same on ebay but it is from the UK and was wondering if it is possible to swap the motherboard (working) from my old phone (because I would like to retrieve my old data with sentimental pictures) in to the used phone?

Also does it matter that the new phone is network locked if i change the motherboard, does it mean that it would no longer be locked to the carrier?

TIA

I can’t say 100% for certain, but most of the time this is totally fine. The only thing I would be concerned about is cellular compatibility. Charge port daughterboards for different regions tend to be the thing that’s different for Samsung, so there may be some weirdness with cell signal, but the motherboard itself is likely the same (or very similar).

As far as carrier lock, that stays with the board. So if your board is still locked to a carrier, it would be the case in a new housing as well.

Thanks for your response.. The old motherboard is not locked with a carrier but the new phone that I am looking to buy is locked with Vodafone..

Can you please elaborate what you mean with the different port daughterboards and what that means when it affects the cell signal?

Thanks
