How to disassemble shark hyperair hair dryer?

Hi,

I have a Shark Hyperair hair dryer which has a problem with the power button that is responsible for powering on/off the hairdryer

the problem is that the hair dryer only works when I press the power button but do not make the button all the way up, i must put my hand and keep pressing the button to make it stay in the middle in order to work

This is a picture of the hairdryer and I did mark the power switch button with a red circle.

I've searched a lot for videos about how to disassemble the Shark Hyperair hair dryer and fix the problem but unfortunately, I didn't find any video

I'm trying to find out how to disassemble that hair dryer and fix the power button in the proper way

I would appreciate it if anyone could give me some advice about how I should fix the power button

Thanks in advance.

The switch contacts burn out or get pitted and won't make good contact, you can open the switch and clean the contacts. This is easier said than done as you will need to open the handel part of the unit.

1 where mains cable enters pull out the black bottom piece which is gel in by 3 clips.

2 open the 2 small screws

3 you will need to pull out the cold button, it has a read copper metal on it which is soft and easily damaged. Best I find is to use a very small screw driver tip ( about 1mm) and push it down the side of cold button and try to leaver it off , it is held in by two plastic clips at the top and bottom.

4 the back of the handle lift off , there are 6 plastic blades that hold in place so lift it up pass the on and off switch. Jam something in it to keep it up as far up as possible the lift off the copper on and off switch slider up and out.

5 now the whole havdel would slide down over the power cabel.

6 the clearnplastic parts are held together with 2 philps screws, open and remove the bottom part.

The small power pcb is hel in place by 3 small screws, open them, lift up the circuit board.

7 now you can access the back of the switch which is held in place by 2 screws. Open and lift the switch out.

8 carefully open up the switch to access the contacts inside and clean the burnt bits out.

It should all work. Reverse the process.

@whok1844 it would be great if you could take a couple of pictures and create a guide for iFixit. That will help the next person that has this device with the same issues as the OP. It's easy and fun to create these guides. https://ifixit.com/Guide/new The iFixit community will appreciate this.
