iPad Pro 11” not powering on or charging

Good evening. My iPad Pro 11 (2nd Gen) will not power on or charge. I see a 0.5 amp draw as soon as a charger is plugged with the battery disconnected.

There’s an IC (343S00235) that is getting extremely hot as soon as the charging cable is plugged in. I see no obvious signs of failure of any other component or any other hot spots.

Any ideas? IC failure or am I missing another culprit?

Have you tried to power the board with a power supply? Maybe its just a small capacitor, thats causing a short on a line. The Ic can get hot because if you add the charging cable some current ist going through the ic towards the short. But thats just a guess. Best way is to give around 4v to the battery connector, check the current for a short and then find on what line the short ist (instant short means on a main power rail, so check them in diode mode). Then you can give voltage to the shorted line and check what component is getting hot now. If its still the ic, you need to replace it.

I hooked a power supply to the board and got zero amp draw. I kept the power supply hooked up and plugged the charging cable in and amp draw went to .090 and stayed there even when the cable was disconnected. However, no heated components were located. Any other ideas?

Have you tried starting the Ipad while the supply is connected?
