Hi Angelo,

No, an aftermarket (or even a genuine Apple) replacement battery will not affect your phone's ability to charge, whether wirelessly or wired. The only thing that will happen is you'll get pop-up warnings on startup for a week or so, then a permanent warning badge on the Settings icon. In addition, when you go into the Battery settings, you will no longer be able to view the health percentage, but the charge percentage display on the screen will be unaffected.

Unfortunately, Apple is aggressively pursuing a parts pairing strategy that severely limits aftermarket or non-Apple repairs. In your case the only way around it is to remove the BMS (Battery Management System) circuit from your original battery and transplant it with a spot welder to a replacement cell.

That solves the issue of the non-genuine warnings, but unfortunately you will now be stuck with the old battery health data, which will be incorrect for a brand new battery cell due to Apple changing the way the health information is stored, starting with your phone. The aftermarket industry has come up with something called a tag-on flex that attaches between the battery and the logic board and gets permanently installed in the phone. That little circuit bypasses Apple's restriction on reprogramming the health information and lets you use a device programmer to reset the values back to 0 cycles and 100% health.

Those are all the hoops Apple now makes you jump through if you don't want to pay them to replace your battery, since your phone isn't eligible for the self repair program. If you don't care about the warning or the loss of health information, then nothing else will be affected by replacing the battery yourself; all charging and capacity functions will work normally.

Good luck, hope this lets you know what your choices are.
