How to retrieve data if the MacBook is damaged and cannot be turned on

The Macbook probably has a damaged logic board and I don't want to pay money for repairs, is it possible to save all the data from it if it is broken?

Sadly, it’s not easy! And you’ll need someone with very good micro-soldering skills to remove the flash chip to transfer to a working logic board of the same series. This won’t be cheap! Is the information that valuable?

Are you sure the logic board has failed? Repairing the system at least to a workable condition to salvage the data maybe possible.

How can I find out if the logic board on the macbook is functional, is there a way to find out at home?

@matejhancko - Can you tell us a bit more on what happened. There’s just not enough details here to tell you much.

I replaced the battery on the macbook, before replacing it I forgot to hold down the yellow button on the logic board, as I read it should be done every time before replacing the battery. Then I found out that it cannot be turned on. After connecting the charger, it cannot be turned on either, but it is slightly warm when it is connected to the charger, when you press the power button, it does not make any sound and the screen is black.

@matejhancko - Ouch! So you shocked the logic board.

With the battery connected did you try the procedure to try to recover? See if that works otherwise you’ll need to find someone who can fix the logic board.

How do I go about restoring? Do you mean SMC Restart?
