@matthewneutz the component that is damaged is a capacitor. It is a critical component for your PPBUS_HS_CPU rail. Your MBP is not going to work without it. Any PPBUS line is a branch of the main power rail PPBUS_G3H There has to be a reason why this cap burned,. Could be the capacitor itself or some issues within the circuit. Make sure you do not have a short between rails anywhere since you do not want to fry your CPU.

The reference designator is C7405 and it is a 33µF 20% 16V in a B3 case. It's a bit hard to find due to the B3 case. Based on the dimension of that case, you should find a suitable replacement on here under the B 16V 33UF 336C tab. Or, you could find a close match (not an exact match ;-) just measure the solder pads on your board and use Mouser.com or Digikey.com to find a case that will fit those dimensions.

The component is large enough that you will not need any major special equipment, but good tools and experience soldering are a must for a successful board repair.

How would I go about removing it?

@matthewneutz you would need to desolder it. Check something like this

I’m a little late, but the capacitor solved the problem. The MacBook works flawlessly and going strong since December. Thank you for your help!

That is a Tantalum capacitor. It should be replaced as you can over stress the rest of the circuit if the system is still working if not it’s shorted out preventing your system from working.
