There is ear wax in the mesh, causing the sound to be quiet and muffled. I tried brushing it out with cotton swabs, a toothbrush, and hydrogen peroxide

91% Alcohol and q-tips. My kids ear buds are always nasty and I'm a germ freak! 91% dries so quick and ive never had it do any damage because it's wet but not like water, so it won't hurt your Electronics. The qtips are soft and narrow enough to clean down in the earbuds as well. Don't soak anything in it, obviously but just a hint of it, is a great cleaner and sanitizer!
