One short beep is good.
May be backlight, loose screen cable, or the screen itself.
First note if the hard drive is blinking. If so, the computer is booting.
Test backlight with a flashlight shining on the screen. If you see video, it is a backlight issue.
If not, disassemble and check the screen cables.
Otherwise, it may be the screen.
If you have an external video connector, try plugging into another screen or TV.
